There are at least two Pakistani
figures behind the peace talks between the U.S. and Iran, which have brought
the escalating conflict between the two nations to a ceasefire. They are
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbas Sharif and the Chief of the Pakistani Army,
Field Marshal Asim Munir. These two figures played a strategic role in
establishing intensive communication with both the US and Iran to find a
peaceful resolution to the conflict involving their country and Iran.

Of the two figures, Asim Munir is
a central figure favored by both Iran and the U.S. Donald Trump feels very
comfortable with him, as do Iranian figures such as Galibaf, Pezeskian, and
Abbas Araghchi, who also find it easy to communicate with Asim Munir. Asim
Munir serves as a bridge for US-Iran communication, shuttling back and forth to
convey each side’s messages and expectations.
He was even willing to fly to Iran to deliver the U.S. message and peace proposal. Unsurprisingly, Iran has now begun reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which it had previously closed, allowing oil tankers and other vessels carrying energy supplies—whose passage had previously been blocked—to easily resume their international voyages. Iran has also begun to soften its stance on uranium enrichment and its nuclear program. All thanks to the outstanding efforts of Asim Munir and Shehbas Syarif.
